Simple Past Tense

Simple past tense untuk membicarakan pekerjaan atau peristiwa yang terjadi di masa lampau.

Time signal atau keterangan waktu yang digunakan antara lain:

• yesterday,
• the day before yesterday,
•  this morning
• last night
• last week,
• last month,
• last year,
• last holiday
• three months ago,  
• a few days ago,
• one year ago
• etc.

FORMULA KALIMAT SIMPLE PAST TENSE

a.         Dengan menggunakan Nominal, dalam hal ini menggunakan “to be” bentuk kedua yaitu WAS/WERE

 

1.       Affirmative Sentence (Kalimat Berita Positif)

S + was/were + complement

 

2.       Negative Sentence (Kalimat menyangkal)

S + was/were + not + complement

 

3.       interrogative Sentence (Kalimat tanya)

was/were + S  + complement + ?

 

Pasangan to be WAS/WERE dengan subject adalah sbb:

Complement yang dapat digunakan dapat berupa:

1.       Adjective/kata sifat, misalnya : beautiful, handsome, diligent, lazy, tidy, small, big, etc.

2.       Noun/kata benda, misalnya : dentist, doctor, mechanic, student, teacher, house, school, etc.

Contoh kalimat:

1.       + I was a student. (saya dulu seorang siswa)

        -  I was not a student

        ? Was I a student?

2.       + My mother was a doctor. (ibu saya dulu seorang dokter)

        -  My mother was not a doctor.

        ? Was My mother a doctor.

3.       + Maradona and Ronaldo were football players. ( dulu Maradona dan Ronaldo adalah pemain Sepak Bola)

-   Maradona and Ronaldo were not football players.

? Were Maradona and Ronaldo football players?

b.    Dengan menggunakan verbal atau kata kerja bentuk kedua atau VERB 2. (dapat dilihat pada table REGULAR DAN IRREGULAR VERBS)

1.       Affirmative Sentence (Kalimat Berita Positif)

S + V2 + O + Adverbs

 

2.       Negative Sentence (Kalimat menyangkal)

S + did + V1 + O + Adverbs

 

3.       interrogative Sentence (Kalimat tanya)

Did + S + V1 + O + Adverbs

 

ADVERBS yang dapat digunakan antara lain:

a.       Adverb of time / time signal/keterangan waktu

b.       Adverb of place / keterangan tempat

 

Contoh Kalimat Simple Past Tense

1.    + Vina and I went to the Ragunan zoo three months ago.
    (Saya dan Vina pergi Ragunan tiga bulan lalu.)

-          Vina and I did not go to the Ragunan zoo three months ago.

      ? did Vina and I go to the Ragunan zoo three months ago.

2.    + He came on time yesterday.
    (Apakah dia datang tepat waktu kemarin.)

-          He did not come on time yesterday.

? Did he come on time yesterday?
